Many people are surprised to learn that both extreme cold and extreme heat are bad for car batteries. In the extreme cold, the battery's capacity decreases by up to 50 percent, but the engine needs even more amps than usual in order to get going.
Extreme heat is also bad for car batteries. Some of the electrolyte evaporates after the temperature reaches 77 degrees Fahrenheit.
According to a press release issued yesterday by FCA US LLC, the Chrysler and Jeep brands have been recognized as the most improved in J.D. Power’s 2016 U.S. Initial Quality StudySM (IQS).
